विवरण : Bharath is an endeavour to render visible one of the several Adivasi oral versions of the Mahabharat generally relegated as folklore by the margi literary traditions of the country. Bharath is a living oral narrative of epical length and scope, prevalent among the Dungri Bhil Adivasis of northern Gujarat. A mélange of ritual, song, music and performance, Bharath brings forth the richness of Adivasi imagination and creativity. While the main story remains the same, Bharath has many episodes distinct from its more popular counterparts in classical tradition, accentuating the deep interconnections as well as divergences between the mainstream and Adivasi literary traditions.
