Hakkipikki is one of the endangered languages of India. It belongs to Indo-Aryan family of languages. It is the mother tongue of the ethnic community Hakkipikki who are living in different pockets throughout the length and breadth of Karnataka. The present work is based on the language of the Hakkipikki who inhabit the Ballari district of Karnataka. Owing to the setting of the community within the dominant Dravidian language environment, the use of the language is on the wane in domains and generations. There is a need to arrest this trend and to promote its revitalisation. This dictionary is an attempt towards this objective. Also, it has the distinction of first ever mapping 2,547 Hakkipikki words on the principles of lexicography. For the sake of enhancing its utility to a wider audience, the dictionary uses Kannada and English as its target languages.
